Well, here it is. The beginning.
The… “I finally started…”
The “..But, wait. What am I doing?”
The “Is this crazy to start another project?”
The “I really don’t know what I am doing”
The “Am I even qualified for this?”
The “Who am I to start a blog?.. I’ve only been thinking about it for the past decade.”
The start, or more like, the “where to start?”
...Just start ..imperfectly.
So, here it is. Here I am. A beginner. Not knowing, but learning. Outside my comfort zone. Ignoring the imposter syndrome & doing it anyway.
I do know, like all things, really, you just need to start. You’ll figure it out & land somewhere farther than you anticipated more than likely. But, you couldn’t, if you didn’t.
And so, it begins..

Who am I?
Well, hello fellow foodie & thank you for visiting my blog!
My name is Caroline & I am currently living in Napa Valley after relocating from Los Angeles in 2018 to follow my passion for creating & sharing food. I am a professional chef & a long distance cat mom to Whiskey & Malbec. (Learn more about me).
Why start a blog?
I created this blog to share my creativity & love of food along with my adventures as a female, biracial Chef in Napa Valley: entrepreneurial pursuits, paying off student loans, and working full time in wine country.
I hope that by sharing my stories and food YOU, fellow adventurer, will stay inspired to live boldly on your own terms & inspire others, including myself!
What does Dalé Chica Dalé mean?
Pronounced dah-ley, “dalé” is a Spanish colloquial command, meaning “Go ahead, do it, go for it.”
Similar to the literary romantic concept of “carpe diem,” “dalé” represents more of a spirit to embody, a way of life - to seize the present moment & to live our best lives!
Who is Dalé Chica Dalé for?
This platform is for all foodie people, inclusively, and in particular, for women, those identifying as women, and those that may feel marginalized in any sense of the word.
I specifically chose to use the word “chica,” the feminine form of the Spanish word chico, meaning “boy” or “girl.” The role of a female historically has been seen as inferior & discriminated against for all the beauty that makes them different from the “status quo” of being male.
On this platform, Chica represents the minority, the underdog, the dreamer, the adventurer. Chica represents those that beat to the sound of their own drum or even those that simply desire some energetic magic to lift their souls (& taste buds).
Food is a creative & universal expression of love for all.
What to expect?
The Dalé Chica Dalé blog will be home to approachable, healthy-ish recipes, culinary tips & soulful motivation, providing inspiration inside & outside of the kitchen.
